Easiest Way To Make Padthai

Pad Thai itself is actually very simple to make, it's literally Thai version of chow mein. The hardest thing to make this dish amazing and authentic is the sauce. If you get the sauce right, there is no way you can mess this up.

Ingredients

  • 100 - 200 g pad thai noodles
  • 100 g raw prawn
  • 75 g beansprouts
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 - 2 tbsp sugar
  • Optional: 1 tbsp roasted peanuts, roughly chopped


Sauce

  • Fish sauce
  • Tamarind sauce
  • Palm sugar
  • Shallots

Preparation


Sauce

There is no measuring for the sauce as you can taste the sauce as you cook to get the flavor you prefer.


1. Fry shallots in a low heat pan with some oil until it turns slight golden.

2. Mix in the rest of the ingredients, taste and wait until sugar all dissolves.

3. When satisfied, remove the shallots and the pan from heat to cool down.

Method (Pad Thai)

1. Heat vegetable oil in a medium heat pan.

2. Add prawns and cook until they turn pink.

3. Beat the eggs, some fish sauce to it and then pour the beaten eggs in the pan. Wait for them to solidify slightly then scramble them.

4. Add the noodles, the Pad Thai sauce and mix them together.

5. Add sugar and fish sauce. Taste the noodles and add more spices until satisfied (don't go overboard!).

6. Remove from heat, serve Pad Thai on a plate (use tongs to make it easier to serve). Garnish with roasted peanuts (optional), beansprouts and cilantro on top of the noodles. Serve the dish with some lime slices on the side.


Tips

  • Don't add lime in with the noodles while cooking, this can make the dish slightly bitter.
  • Lime should be use for flavoring when eating.
  • Recommended meat: chicken and prawn only.


  • Vegetarian option:
    • Replace meat with dry tofu.
    • Replace fish sauce with soy sauce.
  • Vegan option:
    • Replace meat with dry tofu.
    • Replace fish sauce with soy sauce.
    • Remove eggs from recipes.
